Sept. 30: Oilers left winger Liam Reddox clears waivers and is reassigned to the Springfield Falcons of the AHL.
Sept. 29: Oilers centre Rob Schremp is claimed off waivers by the New York Islanders.  Schremp, the Oilers' first round pick (25th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, played just seven games with Edmonton since being drafted, scoring 0-3-3 with 2 PIM.  In 69 games with Springfield last season, Schremp scored 7-35-42 with 50 PIM.
Sept. 29: Oilers place left winger Liam Reddox on waivers for the purposes of reassignment to the Springfield Falcons of the AHL, and also re-assign defenceman Theo Peckham to Springfield.

Sept. 15: Oiler reduce their training camp roster by two players, assigning goaltender Bryan Pitton to the Springfield Falcons of the AHL and goaltender Olivier Roy to Cape Breton of the QMJHL.
Sept. 10:
Oilers sign unrestricted free agent centre Mike Comrie to a one-year, $1.125 million contract. Comrie split last season between the New York Islanders and Ottawa Senators, scoring 10-17-27 with 32 PIM in 63 games.

Comrie was originally drafted by Edmonton in 1999 and played four seasons with the Oilers before being traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in 2003 after a contract dispute. He has scored 154-184-338 in 525 career NHL games.

Sept. 4: Oilers sign centre Rob Schremp to a one-year, two-way contract.  The deal will pay Schremp $715,000 if he plays in the NHL, and $75,000 in the minors.  Schremp scored 7-35-42 in 69 games with the Springfield Falcons on the American Hockey League last season, and added three assists in four games with Edmonton.
Sept. 3: Oilers name Mike Sillinger as Director of Player Development.  Sillinger, a veteran of more than 1000 NHL games, will work with Oiler draft picks in the junior, college and Europe as well as with the organization's players in the AHL and ECHL.

Aug. 25: Oilers name Wayne Fleming as assistant coach.  Fleming was the Head Coach for Avangard Omsk of the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia last season. Prior to that, he had been an assistant coach with the Calgary Flames, Philadelphia Flyers, Phoenix Coyotes and New York Islanders.
Aug. 12: Oilers re-sign defenceman Ladislav Smid and centres Gilbert Brule and Ryan Stone.

Smid, who signed a two-year deal worth $1.3 million per season, scored 0-11-11 with 57 PIM in 60 games with Edmonton last season.

Brule, who signed a one-year, two way contract, scored 13-11-24 with 58 PIM in 39 games with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League last season.  He also added 2-1-3 with 12 PIM in 11 games with the Oilers.  Brule will earn $800,000 if he sticks with the Oilers this season and $62,500 in the minors.

Stone, who also signed a one-year, two way contract, split last season between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Springfield of the AHL and scored a combined 17-39-56 with 117 PIM in 77 games.  He also appeared in two games with the Pittsburgh Penguins, going scoreless with two PIM.  Stone will earn $600,000 in the NHL and $75,000 in the minors.

July 29: Oilers re-sign left winger Liam Reddox and centre Ryan Potulny to one-year, two-way contracts.

Reddox, who will make $515,000 in the NHL and $55,000 in minors, scored 5-7-12 with 10 PIM in 46 games with Edmonton last year, and added 5-4-9 with 2 PIM in 14 games with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.

Potulny, who will make $595,000 in the NHL and $105,000 in minors, scored 0-3-3 in 8 games with Edmonton last year, and added 38-24-62 with 48 PIM in 70 games with Springfield.

July 21: Oilers avoid a salary arbitration hearing with defenceman Denis Grebeshkov, re-signing him to a one year, $3.15 million contract.  Grebeshkov scored 7-32-39 with 38 PIM in 72 games with the Oilers last season.
July 17: Oilers sign right wing Colin McDonald to a one-year, $550,000 contract.  McDonald scored 10-12-22 with 65 PIM in 77 games with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League last season, and 0-2-2 in 3 games with Stockton of the East Coast Hockey League.
July 16: Oilers sign goaltender Devan Dubnyk and defenceman Dean Arsene to one year contracts, and right winger Toni Rajala to a three-year NHL entry level contract.

Dubnyk, who signed for $700,000, had a record of 18-41-2 with a 2.97 GAA and .906 save percentage in 62 games with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey Leageue last year.

Arsene, an unrestricted free agent who signed for $500,000, scored 1-10-11 with 99 PIM in 46 games with the Hershey Bears of the AHL. 

Rajala, the Oilers 4th round pick (101st overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry draft, signed a three-year deal that will pay him $625,000 next season.  He scored 2-3-5 in  21 games with Ilves Tampere in Finland last season.

July 13: Oilers sign unrestricted free agent centre Chris Minard and defenceman Matt Nickerson to one year contracts.

Minard, who signed for $550,000, scored 34-23-57 with 38 PIM in 54 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American  Hockey League last season.  He also played 20 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins, scoring 1-2-3 with 4 PIM.

Nickerson, who signed for $500,000, split last season between Finland and Sweden, scoring 1-1-2 with 156 PIM with Ilves Tampere in Finland and 1-2-3 with 18 PIM in 6 games with Malmo in Sweden.

July 9: Oilers' defenceman Denis Grebeshkov has filed for salary arbitration.
July 9: Oilers trade minor league forward Tim Sestito to the New Jersey Devils for a conditional draft pick.  In 51 games with the Springfield Falcons last season, Sestito scored 5-3-8 with 77 PIM.  He also played one game with Edmonton.

Oilers re-sign unrestricted free agent defenceman Jason Strudwick to a one-year, $700,000 contract.  Strudwick scored 2-7-9 with 60 PIM in 71 games with the Oilers last season.
July 1:
Oilers sign unrestricted free agent goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin to a four-year, $15 million contract. In 42 games with the Chicago Blackhawks last season, Khabibulin had a record of 25-8-7 with a 2.33 GAA and a .919 save percentage. 

In 678 regular games, he has a record of 299-267-58 with a 2.67 GAA and a .908 save percentage. He also won a Stanley Cup as a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2004.

The Oilers traded their 6th round (Minnesota) and 7th round (Ottawa) selections.

June 27: Oilers trade their 2009 7th round pick (191st overall) to the Ottawa Senators for Ottawa's 6th round pick in the 2010 draft.  Ottawa used the pick to select defenceman Michael Sdao.

Brodziak
Oilers trade centre Kyle Brodziak and a 2009 6th round pick (161st overall) to the Minnesota Wild for 2009 4th round (99th overall) and 5th round (133rd overall) selections. 

Brodziak scored 11-16-27 with 21 PIM in 79 games with the Oilers last season.  He had a faceoff winning percentage over 50%, but was criticized on numerous occasions for not playing a gritty enough style.  However, the Oilers will now need to find another player who can win faceoffs for the team.

June 26: Oilers draft Finnish left winger Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson in the first round (10th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.  Paajarvi-Svensson, who was widely viewed as the fastest skater in this year's draft, scored 7-10-17 with 4 PIM in 50 games as a 17-year-old with Timra of the the Swedish Elite League.
