REASONER JOINS THRASHERS
July 17, 2008

Former Oiler Marty Reasoner has signed an undisclosed contract with the Atlanta Thrashers.  Reasoner, who was an unrestricted free agent, scored 11-14-25 with 50 PIM in 82 games with the Oilers last season.


GLENCROSS SIGNS WITH FLAMES
July 1, 2008

Former Oiler Curtis Glencross has signed a three-year, $3.3 million contract with the Calgary Flames.  Glencross, who was an unrestricted free agent, scored 15-10-25 in 62 games with Edmonton and Columbus 
last season.

OILERS RENEW AFFILIATION WITH STOCKTON
June 26, 2008

Oilers renew their affiilation agreement with the Stockton Thunder of the East Coast Hockey League for the 2008-2009 season.  This will be the third-straight season that Stockton will serve as the ECHL affiliate for the Oilers.


TRUITT NAMED SPRINGFIELD HEAD COACH
June 17, 2008

Oilers name Jeff Truitt as head coach of their American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Falcons.  Truitt served as assistant coach to Kelly Buchberger in Springfield last season, and helped guide the Falcons to a 35-35-10 record.


GILBERT NAMED TO NHL ALL-ROOKIE TEAM
June 12 2008

Defenceman Tom Gilbert has been named to the 2007-08 NHL All-Rookie Team on Thursday, as voted by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association at the conclusion of the regular season.

Gilbert is joined on the All-Rookie Team by wingers Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks, centre Nicklas Backstrom of the Washington Capitals, defenceman Tobias Enstrom of the Atlanta Thrashers and goaltender Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens.

Gilbert ranked second among rookie defensemen in scoring with 33 points (13 goals, 20 assists), breaking franchise records for goals and points by a rookie defenseman set by Paul Coffey in 1980-81.


OILERS TO HOLD DEVELOPMENT CAMP

OILERS ELIMINATED FROM POST SEASON CONTENTION
April 1, 2008

A 3-2 loss to the Calgary Flames, combined with a 4-3 win by Nashville over St. Louis, has officially eliminated the Oilers from post-season contention.  The Oilers looked dead in the water in late February, but a 10-4-1 record in March had the team battling for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.  The Oilers will finish last in the Northwest Division, and will miss the playoffs for the fourth time in the last six seasons.
