Zortini, who impressed the Oilers' brass during a recent rookie camp, scored 21-16-37 with 151 PIM in 62 games with the Sudbury Wolves of the OHL last season. He will return to junior during the NHL lockout. | ||||
| Sept. 15 | Oilers re-sign defenceman Jason Smith to a four-year contract, $10.4 million contract that will pay him $2.6 million in each of the four years. Smith, the Oilers' captain, scored 7-12-19 with 98 PIM in 68 games with the Oilers last year. | Sept. 8 | Oilers name Kelly Buchberger and Joe Paterson as assistant coaches for the Edmonton Road Runners. This will be Paterson's second year behind the Road Runners' bench, and Buchberger's first as a coach. | ||||
| Sept. 3 | Oilers re-sign defenceman Marc-Andre Bergeron to a four-year, $3.9 million contract, with a club option for a fifth year. The deal, which is one of the longest in Oilers' history, breaks down to $700,000 in year one, $800,000 in year two, $1.1 million in year three, $1.3 million in year four and $1.8 million in the option year. Last season, Bergeron scored 9-17-26 with 26 PIM in 54 games with Edmonton. He added 4-3-7 with 23 PIM in 17 games with the Toronto Roadrunners. | ||||

McAslan scored scored 12-15-27 with 66 PIM in 62 games with the Toronto Roadrunners last season. Morrison had a record of 12-8-2 with a 2.52 GAA, a .913 save percentage and three shutouts in 27 games with Toronto. Mrozik scored 4-10-14 with 47 PIM in 72 games with the Rochester Americans. |

Bishai to a one-year (plus team option) deal.
Caron, who has elected to forego his final two seasons of NCAA eligibility, scored 5-1-6 with 61 PIM in 35 games with with the University of New Hampshire last season. DiCasmirro spent the season with the Toronto Roadrunners, scoring 17-18-35 with 37 PIM in 71 games. Bishai split the season between Edmonton and Toronto, scoring 0-2-2 with 19 PIM in 14 games with the Oilers and adding 11-22-33 with 18 PIM in 48 games with the Roadrunners. |
| Aug. 4 | Oilers re-sign defenceman Eric Brewer to a one-year, $2.65 million contract, avoiding a salary arbitration hearing that had been scheduled for Aug. 7. Brewer scored 7-18-25 with 67 PIM in 77 games with the Oilers last year. |

Drafted by Pittsburgh in the ninth round (244th overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Petersen has played 91 NHL games, scoring 10-16-26 with 8 PIM. |

Radunske to a three-year deal.
Smith, the Oilers' third round pick (84th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, was captain of Harvard University last season and scored 4-7-11 with 44 PIM in 34 games. Radunske, the Oilers 3rd round pick (79th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, scored 12-10-22 with 60 PIM in 42 games with Michigan State University last season. |
| July 16 | Oilers announce that defenceman Eric Brewer filed for salary arbitration. The NHL has scheduled an arbitration hearing for Aug. 7, and a decision will be reached by no later than Aug. 17. |
| July 15 | Oilers re-sign left-winger Brad Isbister to a two-year contract starting at $1,450,000 for next season. Isbister, who had a sub-par 2003-004 season, agreed to a pay-cut from the $1.925 million he earned last year. He scored 10-8-18 with 54 PIM in 51 games last year. |

17-24-41 in 64 games with the Toronto Roadrunners last season. He
was recalled several times by Edmonton, but was seldom played. He

The Oilers also announced the signing of college defenceman Jason Platt to a two-year contract. Platt, the Oilers' 8th round pick (247th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, scored 2-5-7 with 36 penalty minutes in 34 games with Providence last season. |

Dubnyk, 6'5", was the second-ranked north American goaltender and had a record of 20-18-5 with a 2.15 GAA and a .917 SVPTG in 44 games with the WHL Kamloops Blazers last season. Shremp, who comes with a repulation as a bit of a head-case, scored 30-45-75 in 63 games with the London Knights of the OHL. The Oilers' other draft choices

Brodziak, who was drafted by the Oilers in the seventh round (214th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, had a break-out year for the WHL Moose Jaw Warriors last season. Ulanov for one more year. Ulanov joined the Oilers part-way through

The Oilers also announced the signings of minor-league defencemen Brent Henley and Dan Smith to undisclosed one-year contracts. Smith scored 4-9-14 with 41 PIM in 66 games with the Toronto Roadrunners last year, while Henley split the season between South Carolina in the ECHL and Toronto. |
