Sept. 15:

The day that most hockey fans feared yet knew was coming finally arrived, as the NHL announced the suspension of the 2004-05 season after being unable to come to terms on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement with the NHL Players Association. With two the sides deadlocked, training camps have officially been postponed. No meetings have been scheduled between the two sides at present.


Steve's Oilers Web Site will remain up-to-date on any Oilers transactions that occur during the lockout, but will not be actively covering the new Edmonton Road Runners AHL team.
Sept. 8:

Oilers release the details of their 2004-05 Rookie Camp, which will run Sept. 9-12 at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park.  Players will undergo medicals and fitness testing Sept. 9 before taking part in three on-ice sessions Sept. 10 to 12. The sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and will be open to the public.

The rookies will then play two exhibition games, Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. versus the Calgary Flames rookies and Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m.against the University of Alberta Golden Bears.  Both games will be played at the Clare Drake Arena.

The rookie camp roster includes:

Goaltenders: Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers, Devan Dubnyk

Defence: Max Gordichuk, Brent Henley, Doug Lynch, Jason Platt, Mathieu Roy
Kenny Smith, Roman Tesliuk, Rocky Thompson, Jeff Woywitka, Bryan Young.

Forwards: Dan Baum, Mike Bishai, Troy Bodie, Kyle Brodziak, Ed Caron, Joe Cullen
Simon Ferguson, Stephane Goulet, Jean-Francois Jacques, Jean-Francois Plourde, Marc-Antoine Pouliot, Brock Radunske, Liam Reddox, Martin St. Pierre, Rob Schremp
