Jan. 30 Oilers reassign center Jarret Stoll and left wing Jani Rita to the Hamilton Bulldogs.  Stoll scored 0-1-1 in two games with the Oilers while Rita chipped in 1-0-1 in six games.
Jan. 28 Oilers recall centre Jarret Stoll from the Hamilton Bulldogs.  Stoll has scored 15-20-35 with 62 PIM an 51 games with the 'Dogs.
Jan. 27 Oilers name Geoff Ward head coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Jan. 22 Oilers place right winger Georges Laraque on the Injured Reserve list after he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee to repair torn meniscus cartilage.  He is expected to be out 10-14 days.
Jan. 17 Oilers recall left wing Jani Rita from the Hamilton Bulldogs.  Rita has scored 18-19-37 in 45 games with Hamilton this season.  The recall comes after injuries to forwards Ryan Smyth and Georges Laraque.
Jan. 17 Oilers name Geoff Ward as interim head coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs.  The announcement comes after former coach Claude Julien was named head coach of the Montreal Canadiens.

As compensation for losing Julien, the Oilers will receive Montreal's fifth round choice in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and that choice will improve to a fourth round selection if the Canadiens make the playoffs. The Canadiens have also agreed to play a pre-season game at Skyreach Centre next season.

Jan. 8 Oilers recall left wing Fernando Pisani from the Hamilton Bulldogs.  Pisani has scored 17-15-32 with 24 PIM in 41 games with the Bulldogs.  The callup comes after the team placed center Mike Comrie on the injured reserve with a fractured right thumb.  Comrie is expected to be out of the lineup for four to six weeks.
Jan. 5 Oilers reassign defenceman Bobby Allen to the Hamilton Bulldogs.  Allen played one game with Edmonton during his recall.

DECEMBER, 2002
Date Transaction
Dec. 30 Oilers recall defenceman Bobby Allen from the Hamilton Bulldogs.  Allen has scored 1-9-10 with 14 PIM in 36 games with the Bulldogs this season.  He was recalled to fill in for defenceman Steve Staios, who is listed as day-to-day with a mild concussion.
Dec. 29 Oilers recall defenceman Alexei Semenov from the Hamilton Bulldogs.  The callup comes after injuries to defencemen Kari Haakana (ribs) and Janne Niinimaa (knee).  Semenov has scored 4-3-7 with 45 PIM in 37 games with the Bulldogs this season.
Dec. 28 Oilers buy-out the contract of center Jiri Dopita.  The $1.1 million buy-out came after Dopita requested his release from the team.

Dopita
Dopita was acquired from Philadelphia in the off-season for draft picks and was touted as the big second line center the Oilers  coveted.  However, after totalling only 1-4-5 in 21 games with Edmonton it was clear that the experiment had failed.

Dopita will likely return home to the Czech Republic.

Dec. 12 Oilers trade left winger Josh Green to the New York Rangers in exchange for a conditional draft pick in the 2004 NHL entry draft.  Green has scored 0-2-2 with 12 PIM in 20 games with Edmonton this season.
Dec. 5 Oilers activate center Jiri Dopita from the Injured Reserve List.  Dopita, who missed nine games with a right knee strain, has scored 0-3-3 with 4 PIM in 13 games with Edmonton this season.
Dec. 5 Oilers place right winger Georges Laraque on the National Hockey League Injured Reserve List. Laraque suffered a lacerated left elbow in the Oilers game against Colorado Nov. 30.
Dec. 4 Oilers assign defenceman Kari Haakana to the Hamilton Bulldogs for conditioning purposes. Haakana will play two games with Hamilton before rejoining the Oilers in Florida on Dec. 7. Haakana is scoreless with 4 PIM in 11 games this season.

NOVEMBER, 2002
Date Transaction
Nov. 13 Oilers place center Jiri Dopita on the Injured Reserve List to allow his right knee to heal.  An Oilers' press release indicates that: "Dopita had knee surgery this summer to repair accumulated damage, and although he was able to play, it continued to swell after every game and practice".  Dopita had cleared waivers and was designated for reassignment before the Oilers elected to place him on the I.R.
Nov. 9 Oilers place center Jiri Dopita on waivers and recall center Marty Reasoner from the Hamilton Bulldogs.  Dopita, who was pencilled in as the Oilers' second line center at the start of the year, has been largely ineffective this year, scoring just 0-3-3 in 13 games.  The Oilers have not indicated where Dopita will be assigned should he clear waivers.
Nov. 5 Oilers assign center Marty Reasoner to the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Nov. 3 Oilers recall defenceman Ales Pisa from the Hamilton Bulldogs and designate center Marty Reasoner for assignment.

OCTOBER, 2002
Date Transaction
Oct. 24 Oilers defenceman Alex Henry is claimed off waivers by the Washington Capitals.  Henry had played just three games with Edmonton this year, and the Oilers were attempting to ship him to their minor league affiliate in Hamilton.
Oct. 8 Oilers make the final two cuts to reduce their roster to the NHL limit of 23 players, reassigning goaltender Ty Conklin to the Hamilton Bulldogs and designating defenceman Ales Pisa for reassignment.  Pisa, who is on a one-way NHL contract, will likely be shipped to a Czech team.  Conklin, meanwile, has to clear waivers before being sent down to Hamilton.
Oct. 7 Oilers trade right winger Mike Grier to the Washington Capitals in exchange for second and third round draft picks in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.  Grier had a disappointing season last year, scoring just 8-17-25 in 82 games.
Oct. 7 Oilers reduce their training camp roster to 27 players by reassigning center Jarret Stoll to the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Oct. 7 Oilers place left winger Josh Green on the Injured Reserve list with a strained back.  Because he is injured, Green will not have to be counted as one of the 23 players on the Oilers' final roster.
Oct. 4 Oilers reduce their training camp roster by four players:
