Mar. 26:
 
A 4-3 win over the Phoenix Coyotes officially qualifies the Oilers for the 2003 Stanley Cup playoffs.  The Oilers return to the playoffs after a one-year absence.  The team can still finish as high as sixth place in the Western Conference, and will play either Detroit, Dallas or Vancouver in the first-round.

Staios
Oilers announce that Defenceman Steve Staios has been selected as the team's nominee for the 2002-03 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy,  which is given to the player "who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey."

The Masterton Trophy was first presented by the NHL Writers' Association in 1968 to commemorate the late Bill Masterton, a player with the Minnesota North Stars, who exhibited to a high degree the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey, and who died January 15, 1968.

Oilers announce that center Shawn Horcoff will replace right winger Ales Hemsky in the NHL YoungStars Game.  Hemsky is being bothered by an abdominal strain and will use the All-Star break to recover.

Laraque
Oilers announce that right winger Georges Laraque  will undergo surgery to repair cartilage damage in his right knee. Laraque has missed the Oilers last two games due to the injury. The Oilers are waiting until after the surgery to determine how much longer Laraque will be sidelined.

Right winger Ales Hemsky is selected to play in the NHL YoungStars Game in Sunrise, Florida.  The game is part of NHL All-Star Weekend and showcases players age 25 and under who are playing on entry-level contracts.  Hemsky is the second Oiler to be named to the YoungStars Game, joining Mike Comrie, who skated in the inaugural game in 2001-02 at Los Angeles.

Brewer
Defenceman Eric Brewer is named to the Western Conference All-Star team for the 2003 NHL All-Star Game.  The selection marks the first time the 23-year-old has been named to an NHL All-Star team.  The All-Star game will be played on February 2nd, 2003 at Sunrise, Florida.
