Laraque
Right winger Georges Laraque was taken to hospital after being involved in a two-car collision.  Laraque's SUV collided with a mini-van, and both he and the two occupants of the second vehicle were taken to hospital for examination.  Laraque was later discharged, and it is unknown if he will miss any playing time due to his injuries.

Sept. 20:

NHL spokesman Frank Brown acknowledged that the League is considering a proposal of staging a game between the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames to be be played outdoors at Commonwealth Stadium in November of 2004.

A similar outdoor game drew over 74,000 fans in Michigan.

Edmonton Mayor Bill Smith said the proposal has received tentative approval from the league and the players' association and the city is in the process of working out a lease with the Oilers.  Smith said it could turn out to be a six-year event, with one game held in November each year.
