May. 28: Oilers sign center Mike Bishai and winger Nate DiCasmirro to undisclosed contracts.

Bishai, 22, scored 10-27-37 in 34 games with NCAA Western Michigan last season.  He also appeared in three games with the Hamilton Bulldogs in which he was scoreless.

DiCasmirro, 23, scored 17-33-50 in 41 games with NCAA St. Cloud State before reporting to Hamilton where he was scoreless in one regular season game.  He added 5 assists in 10 playoff games. 

Both players will attend the Oilers training camp this September.

Mar. 25: Goaltender Tommy Salo is named the NHL Player of the Week.  Salo posted a 3-0-0 record, a 0.67 goals-against average, a .976 save percentage and a shutout.  Salo's shutout, his 15th with the Oilers, established a new franchise record, surpassing the previous mark of 14 set by Curtis Joseph.
Mar. 19: Oilers recall defencemen Sven Butenschon and Ales Pisa from the Hamilton Bulldogs.  Butenschon is the Bulldogs' top scoring defenceman this season, with 9-35-44 in 61 games.  Pisa has scored 6-12-18 in 52 games.
Mar. 19:
York
Oilers trade defenceman Tom Poti and center Rem Murray to the New York Rangers in exchange for center Mike York and a fourth-round draft pick in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.  York, 25, was drafted in the sixth round (136th overall) by the Rangers in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.  He has scored 18-39-57 in 69 games this season and has scored 138 points in 230 career NHL games.
Mar. 19:
Allen
Oilers trade defenceman Sean Brown to the Boston Bruins in exchange for defenceman Bobby Allen.  The 23-year-old Allen was drafted in the second round (52nd overall) by the Bruins in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.  He is in his rookie professional season, and has scored 5-10-15 in 49 games with the AHL Providence Bruins.  Allen has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Mar. 15: Oilers assign center Shawn Horcoff to Hamilton for a two game conditioning stint.,  Horcoff will join the Bulldogs for two road games against the St. John's Maple Leafs. He will rejoin the Oilers Mar. 17.
Mar. 14: Oilers recall center Brian Swanson from the Hamilton Bulldogs.  Swanson has been Hamilton's leading scoring all season, and has scored 34-39-73 in 65 games with 26 PIM.
Mar. 8: Oilers assign left winger Jani Rita to the Hamilton Bulldogs.  Rita was scoreless in the only game he played for Edmonton.

 
FEBRUARY, 2002

Feb. 28: Oilers place center Domenic Pittis on the Injured Reserve List after suffering a concussion in a team practice.  With Pittis sidelined, the Oilers have recalled left winger Jani Rita from the Hamilton Bulldogs.  Rita has scored 21-17-38 with 26 PIM. in 61 games with Hamilton this year.
Feb. 14 Oilers sign free agent left winger Louie DeBrusk to a 25-game minor-league tryout contract with the Hamilton Bulldogs.  This is DeBrusk's second stint in the Oilers' organization.  He played 228 games for Edmonton between 1991 and 1997. DeBrusk is not expected to play for the Oilers this time around. 
Feb. 6: Oilers place defenceman Steve Staios on the injured reserve list with a strained groin and recall defenceman Sven Butenschon from the Hamilton Bulldogs.  Butenschon has scored 6-27-33 with 67 PIM in 48 games with Hamilton this season.
