| May 30: | Oilers sign right-winger MICHAEL HENRICH, the team's 1998 first-round draft pick, to a three-year contract. Henrich played this past season with the Barrie Colts of the OHL, where he scored 38-48-86 in 66 games. He scored 11-21-31 during the Colts' post-season. The Oilers had until midnight May 31 to sign Henrich or he would have gone back into the 2000 entry draft. |
| May 24: | Oilers announce that left winger ETHAN MOREAU underwent successful shoulder surgery and is expected to make a full recovery in time for training camp in September. Moreau had chronic dislocations of his shoulder during the past season and needed had the surgery to stabilize the joint structure. |
| May 24: | Oilers announce that centers BOYD DEVEREAUX and PAUL COMRIE will visit Chicago physician Dr. James Kelly, who specializes in head injuries and treated center Eric Lindros of the Philadelphia Flyers . Devereaux and Comrie both suffered concussions during the season and the Oilers are seeking several opinions on the condition of the two players. |
| May 23: | Oilers announce that GLEN SATHER has agreed to act as a consultant for the organization until a new GM is named. Sather will look after player contract negotiations until the end of June. |
| May 19: | After 25 years with the
Edmonton Oilers' organization, President and General Manager GLEN
SATHER resigns. Sather, who was at odds with members of
the Edmonton Investors Group's Board of Directors, is believed to be being
courted by the New York Rangers for their vacant GM position.
Sather first joined the Oilers as a player in 1976, was named head coach in 1977 and became president and GM on June 15, 1979. He led the Oilers to five Stanley Cups between 1984 and 1990, and was elected to Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder in 1997. The Oilers did not immediately name a successor for Sather, but head coach Kevin Lowe is the leading candidate. |
| May 18: | Oilers elect to pick up the option year of the contract of defenceman BRETT HAUER. Hauer played the bulk of last season with the Manitoba Moose of the IHL. |

| Apr. 24: | After
15 seasons in the NHL, goaltender BILL
RANFORD calls it a career. Ranford
played parts of 10 seasons in with the Oilers, originally joining the squad
in the 1987-88 season in a trade with the Boston Bruins. He won the
Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP after backstopping the Oilers to the
1990 Stanley Cup.
Ranford was traded back to the Bruins in the 1996-97 season, and made stops in Washington, Tampa Bay and Detroit before re-signing with the Oilers this past off-season. Injuries and inconsistent play hampered Ranford in what would be his final year in the league. |
| Apr. 22: | Oilers reassign left wingers DAN LACOUTUREand DANIEL CLEARY,right wingerKEVIN BROWNand centre ROB MURRAY to the Hamilton Bulldogs, who are facing the Rochester Americans in the second round of the AHL playoffs. |
| Apr. 20: | Oilers
recall centre ROB MURRAY from the Hamilton Bulldogs. Murray,
the Bulldogs' captain, scored 11-20-31 with 100 PIM in 55 games with the
AHL team this season. He has also totalled 1-4-5 in four playoff
games.
Murray was acquired from the Springfield Falcons for center Eric Houde back on Dec. 1. |
| Apr. 14: | Goaltender MIKE MINARD is reassigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs. Minard won his first NHL start for the Oilers, posting a 3.00 GAA and a .917 save percentage in a game against the Calgary Flames. |
| Apr. 5: | Oilers
recall goaltender MIKE MINARD from the Hamilton Bulldogs after backup
netminder Bill Ranford was in injured in practice. Ranford strained
a hamstring and is listed as day-to-day.
Minard, who was chosen 83rd overall by the Oilers in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, has a 16-12-5 record in 38 games with the Bulldogs this season. He has recorded a 3.08 goals-against average with a .904 save percentage. |
| Apr. 2: | Center BOYD
DEVEREAUX will be out of the lineup indefinitely after suffering
a severe concussion as a result of a hit from Phoenix Coyotes forward Dallas
Drake April 1.
Devereaux was hospitalized overnight for observation and was released this morning. The Oilers say both a CAT scan and x-rays proved negative. |

Cleary's third stint with the Oilers this season comes as a result of injuries to Mike Grier (torn triceps muscle) and German Titov (biceps) that will keep both players out of the line-up. Todd Marchant (ankle), Bill Guerin (hip) and Georges Laraque (knee) are also battling injuries. |
| Mar. 30: | Oilers recall left winger DAN LACOUTURE from the Hamilton Bulldogs. LaCouture, who was aquired from the New York Islanders for Mariusz Czerkawski in 1997, had 23 goals and 40 points in 70 games with the Bulldogs this season. |
| Mar. 23: | Right wing MIKE GRIER underwent surgery to repair a torn left triceps muscle. He has been placed on the injured reserve list and is expected to miss the rest of the season and the playoffs. |
| Mar. 14: | The Oilers make just one
move at the NHL trading deadline, dealing center JOSEF
BERANEK to the Pittsburgh Penguins for left winger GERMAN
TITOV.
Titov has played in 63 games for the Penguins this season, scoring 17-25-42. The 34-year-old is in the last year of his contract and will become an unrestricted free agent this summer. Beranek has had a disappointing season with the Oilers, totalling just 9-8-17 in 58 games. He now returns to Pittsburgh, the team that traded him to the Oilers back on June 16, 1998 for defenceman Bobby Dollas and center Tony Hrkac. |
| Mar. 9: | Oilers acquire defencemen
IGOR ULANOV and ALAIN
NASREDDINE from the Montreal Canadiens for defenceman CHRISTIAN
LAFLAMME and MATTHIEU DESCOTEAUX.
The 30-year-old Ulanov has played 43 games for the Habs this season, scoring, 1-5-6 with 76 PIM. Nasreddine, who has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs, has played all season for the AHL's Quebec Citadelles, scoring 1-6-7 with 178 PIM in 59 games. Laflamme had played in 50 games with the Oilers this season, scoring 0-5-5 with 32 PIM, while Descoteaux totalled 5-7-12 with 29 PIM in 49 games with the Bulldogs. Descoteaux has been assigned to Quebec. |
| Mar. 7: | Oilers recall right winger KEVIN BROWN from the Hamilton Bulldogs. Brown is the Bulldogs' second leading scorer, totalling 21-39-60 in 54 games. Brown has been signed to an NHL contract for the balance of the 1999-2000 season, with a club option for the 2000-2001 season |
| Mar. 6: | Oilers' prospect PAUL COMRIE tells the Edmonton media that a neurologist has advised him never to play hockey again. The 23-year-old center, who led the Oilers in scoring in the pre-season with 5-1-6, is suffering from post concussion syndrome after being elbowed during a game in Hamilton Jan. 7. Comrie will remain on the Bulldogs' injured list for the remainder of the season and has yet to decide whether he will be heed the physician's advice. |

| Feb. 22: | Center CHAD KILGER is recalled from a two week conditioning stint in Hamilton. Kilger scored 4-2-6 in seven games with the Bulldogs. |

| Feb. 8: | Oilers send center CHAD KILGER to the Hamilton Bulldogs for two weeks of conditioning. Kilger has played in only 29 games this season, scoring 3-1-4. |
| Feb. 7: | Oilers recall left winger DANIEL CLEARY from the Hamilton Bulldogs. Cleary leads the AHL team in scoring with 15-41-56 in 47 games. This is Cleary's second stint with the Oilers this season. He played four games back in October, scoring a pair of goals -- including the game winner -- against the L.A. Kings Oct. 16. |
| Feb. 4: | Oilers acquire right winger ALEXANDRE VOLCHKOV from the Washington Capitals for future considerations. Volchkov, who was drafted fourth overall in the 1996 NHL entry draft, has scored 11-15-26 in 35 games with the AHL's Portland Pirates this season. He has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs. |
| Feb. 4: | Right winger PAT FALLOON is claimed off waivers by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Falloon had scored 5-13-18 in 33 games for the Oilers this season, but inconsistent play had earned him a seat in the press box recently. |
