Oilers announce that General
Manager Steve Tambellini has been relieved of his duties, and replaced
with former head coach Craig MacTavish. Over the four seasons under
Tambellini, the Oilers finished 30th, 30th, 29th and are on pace for a
23rd place finish this season.

After a 116 day lockout,
the NHL and NHLPA have reached a tentative agreement on a new 10 year Collective
Bargaining Agreement.
One the agreement is ratified
by both the owners and the players, it is expected that training camps
will open on Jan. 12 and that a 48 game season will begin on Jan. 19.
